These well-known wind turbines are manufactured in the UK by LVM. They feature the latest technology, and the expertise and experience gained since 1982. These models are the "third generation" and are being used all over the world for yachts, research institutes, military forces and remote area houses. |
Features: |
|||
| Powerful Performance - Designed for all wind speeds - The optimum wind speed is between 5 and 20 knots. Aerogens are designed to operate efficiently in this range, starting to charge at 5 knots. Equally they take advantage of higher wind speeds to produce higher outputs continuously and safely. | |||
| Compact, light, robust and maintenance free - Aerogens are lighter and smaller than some units with similar or even lower performances. They are sturdy and robust, and incorporate heavy duty bearings, slip rings and brushes Corrosion resistant marinised materials are used throughout. | |||
| Quiet, safe, low speed efficient propellors - LVM computer designed aerofoil section blades are used to maximise the generators output at comparatively low wind speeds therefore ensuring enhanced safety, comfort and bearing wear | |||
| High efficiency brushless alternators - High efficiency hand wound 3 phase brushless alternators and neodymium iron boron permanent magnet rotor, sleeved and epoxy coated, mean Aerogen provide years of maintenance and trouble free use | |||
| Easy Installation - Mounting Kits available - and all Aerogens are available in 12 or 24 volt versions |

| Aerogen2 - The ideal small wind generator for weekend yachtsmen, small yachts and low power land applications. Weighing only 5 kilos the design can ensure that batteries are maintained and fully charged for each visit and make a contribution whilst sailing/caravaning. Produces 0.5 amps at 12 knots and 1 amp at 19 knots. It can produce up to 4 amps intermittently, and is thermally protected. Mounting for 1" tube only. | |||
| Aerogen4 - Produces more power for the cruising yachtsman and static and mobile caravans. It can provide sufficient power for cruising yachts with significant electrical equipment - even refrigeration. Produces 2 amps at 13 knots, 6 amps at 20 knots, and up to 19 amps in 60 knot winds. Safe in storms as it is self limiting. Mounting for 1" or !.5" tube. | |||
| Aerogen6 - The powerful Aerogen is the ideal unit for live aboard yachtsmen, and forapplications with high power usage. Produces 4 amps at 12 knots and 10 amps at 20 knots. It is optimised to maintain continuous high outputs at higher wind speeds. It operates safely and continuously in 45 knot winds, producing 30 amps, but above that it requires some manual control, and therefore is not suitable for unattended applications. | |||
| Furled inland generators - Are designed for unattended inland applications. They prduce less power than the marine versions, and are automatically furled by the special pivoting tail assembly. They have a flange mount, which is welded to a 2" pipe, and the generator is bolted to the flange. These are NOT suitable for use on yachts. | |||
| Voltage regulators - Voltage regulators and diode units are available for single, twin and triple battery sets. When the batteries reach full charge the power produced is diverted to a wire wound resistor and dissipated as heat, thus ensuring the wind generator is loaded at all times. |

The Forgen wind driven generator embodies long established high efficiency generator principles, combined with turbine airflow expertise. Low inertia of the carefully balanced all aluminium rotor assembly enables the maximum advantage to be taken of average weather conditions. The two machines in the range, the Forgen 500 and the Forgen 1000, can produce in an average 15 knot wind speed either 12 or 24 amphrs in a 24 hour period (depending on battery condition). The design of the machines is such that in extreme wind conditions the turbine is self regulating. The electronic circuitry is also internally protected against overload, neither machine requires an external regulator to be fitted.
The turbine drive of the permanent magnet generator is widely acknowledged as the most efficient design, and when mounted vertically it takes advantage of wind from any direction. All electrical components are encapsulated and the unit is virtually maintenance free, especially as there are no slip rings. The outlet supply cable to the battery cannot become entangled. As there are no separate blades the unit is vibration free and silent in operation. The Forgen 500 is designed as a trickle charger and may be permanently connected to the battery. The Forgen 1000 gives a higher charge and has been designed for larger multiple battery installations usually associated with boats over 10 m in length. The use of a Forgen ensures easy start up after overnight or week-long mooring of sailing craft. Parked caravans, electric fence units, sea bouys or other remotely situated electronic equipment are also typical uses for the Forgen. It is well known that batteries have a much longer working life when maintained in a fully charged condition, and even a small charge current will help prevent battery deterioration. The generator circuit is designed so that the battery cannot be overcharged, and is self adjusting for 12 or 24 volt batteries. |
