All run from 12-volt or 24-volt batteries, charged by solar panels or from the mains.
DC to DC has the advantage of running directly from a battery, thus eliminating inverter inefficiencies of 5% to 25%.
The electronics have over- and under-voltage protection, thermal protection, and pressure protection (in case the unit is disconnected and then reconnected whilst running).
Because of its efficiency, it takes the seasonal changes in solar-power systems to their full advantage. i.e. In the summer, when the days are longer and more solar power is available, the fridge may need to run longer because it is hotter. In winter the reverse occurs, but their main attribute is that these fridges and freezers perform just as well as 240-volt fridges, but only consume a fraction of the power.
